Ingredients

  • 12 sheets of oven-ready lasagna noodles
  • 4 cups of marinara sauce
  • 2 cups of ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 lb of ground beef or Italian sausage (optional)
  • 2 tbsp of chopped fresh basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Sauce
If using ground beef or sausage, brown the meat in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat and stir in the marinara sauce.
  • Layer the Ingredients
Spread 1 cup of sauce at the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place 3-4 lasagna noodles on top, slightly overlapping.
Add a layer of ricotta cheese, followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella and Parmesan.
Repeat the layers—sauce, noodles, cheese—until all ingredients are used, ending with a generous layer of mozzarella on top.
  • Bake the Lasagna
Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese turns golden and starts bubbling.
  • Rest and ServeLet the lasagna sit for 10-15 minutes before cutting into it. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, replace the ground beef with a mix of sautéed vegetables such as mushrooms, spinach, and zucchini.
  • To make it gluten-free, use gluten-free oven-ready lasagna noodles and ensure the sauce ingredients are gluten-free.
  • You can freeze this lasagna before baking. Wrap it tightly and store in the freezer for up to three months. Bake directly from frozen, adding 20-30 minutes to the cooking time.
